We invite you to join us on a creative journey into the world of wood block printing.
This workshop for beginners requires no prior knowledge or skills. We are here to guide you and make sure you have a great time! It is a relaxing process where you can get into the creative flow.
Your tutor Joanna will explain the design process behind different types of patterns and prints. They will also do a printing demonstration, explaining how different colours work together and how to best use your printing space.
You will then have a go at experimenting with the wood blocks which are hand-carved in India – there are over 100 botanical, animal and geometric motifs to choose from. You will come up with your own designs and colour combinations.
Joanna will work with you individually to discuss your ideas before moving onto your final piece. You can choose from organic cotton tea towel or shopping bag for your final project. Make it for yourself or as a beautiful thoughtful gift.
If you want to bring your own items - they have to be 100% cotton/ linen, pre-washed and ironed. This is to ensure the fabric paint can be ironed onto the fabric and the design becomes permanent. All items can be washed at 30 degrees after ironing.
All materials and tea/coffee are included in the cost of the workshop.

Our studio space is located in the delightful Dukes Meadows, next to the River Thames.
