Raoul Dufy
We’re loving Art Deco at the moment and looking at artists such as Raoul Dufy (1877-1953), who is best known as a painter but also had an influential career as a textile designer. His style is expressionistic, with a lot of movement and vibrancy, often using leaves and animals as the main motifs. Dufy created around 5,000 designs which were printed onto silks, dress fabrics and wall hangings. He collaborated with fashion designers such as Paul Poiret and even set up his own textile factory in 1911.
