Creating a scene with wood block printing

Wood block printing is a versatile craft which can be used to create both patterns and 'scenes'. Scenes are based on a theme and then the blocks are used to create a picture print. Let's say the theme is a meadow, so we'll need blocks for flowers, leaves and insects.

This design uses one large 'seedhead' block repeating across the bottom and top of the tea towel. This is overlaid with various smaller flower blocks in contrasting colours. In the centre is the beehive, with bees flying down towards it. The tiny little flowers graduate out towards the centre, suggesting they are blown by the wind.
