Spring textile workshop

Full of the joys of Spring, we hosted a local creative group for a wood block printing workshop. Three hours of playing around with the wood blocks and choosing what textiles you'd like to print sounds fun doesn't it? This means everyone can come away with something personal and unique.

This group was already creative (jewelers, designers, potters, sewing etc) so they had a bit of a head start when it came to making visual decisions and colour choices. But we were blown away by some of their designs! This is what is special about these kinds of workshops, each person's personality shines through in their work. There is a huge variety of pattern designs, from floral to geometric and animals.

Each workshop starts with an overview of wood block printing, pattern design and colour theory. This is followed by a practical demonstration. Then it is over to the participants to choose blocks and paints. 

This type of workshop is very accessible, even if you have not done much art or craft before. We take you through all the steps and there are not any wrong answers! Guidance is given at every stage so you feel confident with what you are doing.
